Metadata Workshops

In collaboration with the **Crossing Fonds** project, developed and refined metadata two (2) workshops, engaging community members in the remediation and annotation process. Focus groups were held to test these methods, setting the stage for further workshops.


Experimentation and Local Engagement

Programming within the experimental presentation lab of the CSBCD focused on engagement with local artists, academics, emerging curators, and community organizations. We presented the following projects over the 2023/2024 academic year.

Illuminations - Neil Price

Multimedia lecture-performance by Toronto-based writer, educator, and art critic of his ongoing research on Black experiences of higher education.

Artist in Residence

This summer 2024 artist in residence for Black and Queer artist, Nickeshia Garrick was led by recent OCAD U MFA curatorial grad, Dedra McDermott and took place through a partnership with DanceWorks (local choreographic presentation platform). McDermott is also the co-director of DanceWorks. McGarrick explored the history of Black performance in Toronto spanning the period of the 1960s to the present,
